NeuStar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) today announced that it has won a prestigious award at the inaugural Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, which took place in London last week. NeuStar was awarded the “Mobile Instant Messaging Award” for its successful implementation of Turkcell’s Messenger project.
Turkcell’s mobile IM service represents the first operator-created and operator-managed mobile IM service to be launched globally. NeuStar spearheaded the full integration of the service into Turkcell’s network, creating software clients for a variety of mobile handset brands and providing presence information that enables mobile users to see who is available to communicate in real time.
Launched to Turkcell’s 30 million subscribers in October 2006, the service was an immediate success, with tens of thousands of users immediately signing up for the service. Since launch, Turkcell has enjoyed impressive growth in active users, as well as an uplift of average revenue per user (ARPU) from customers using the service for both voice and text messaging.
